Barn Sale and Such

This past Saturday I went to my very first Barn Sale in Suffield, Ohio I met some really nice ladies. I was only able to purchase just a few things. I wish that I had my husband's Rav4 instead my Honda I could have gotten way more stuff. Since this was my first barn sale I wasn't quite sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. The ladies there were friendly, talented, organized and busy. The barn sale included furniture, vintage items, pillows, outdoor accessories and so much more it was great fun. Here are some photos of the items I bought. A red picture frame which is perfect for the family room since I'm decorating using red accents, two white flower pots and a coffee table.

I'm hoping to meet these lovely ladies again Bessie Zinz made lovely vintage crafts I hope that she will continue to do well this was their very first barn sale and I think they did a great job. You can check out her blog here.

Have a great day!

Cane Chair Project (in progress)

I purchased this chair for $22 at a local second hand shop which is called Second City. This is my very first attempt to reupholster anything. I'm pleased with the fabric I've chosen, I'm playing it safe and giving it a little pizzazz. I used the old fabric for the template and I'm figuring it as I go. The cushions are tufted but I have no idea how to do tufting and I don't want to stress out on my first try and then I'll never do it again, so I'm taking the easy way out (lazy).

I painted the chair Magnetic Gray -SW and then I dry brushed Mink - Ben Moore over the top I think it looks great :)

Within the next few days I hope to finish the top and make a pillow cushion but I have a busy week ahead.

Until the next time

Spring & Summer

The weather was surprisingly nice this weekend! The hubby and I went to our local nursery and selected a few of my favorites like zinnas, licorice, petunias and of course chicks & hens. I'm hoping that the weather will continue to be nice so that I can plant some of them in these lovely cobalt blue pots.

Until the next post take care,

Brushstroke - : the configuration given to paint by contact with the bristles of a brush; also : the paint left on a surface by a single application of a brush or palette knife —often used figuratively to describe the quality especially of a narrative or description <a story told in broad brushstrokes

Okay that's the definition we get it; now the reason for this post. I believe I was probably 17 years old when I refinished my very first piece of furniture. I'm now 46 years old and let me tell you brushstrokes still dry me crazy. Why is it that on some pieces you don't want any and then on others you can't have enough. It's such a vicious cycle. I'm currently working on a piece that requires brushstrokes it just looked too flat .............stay tuned photos coming soon.

take care,

Screaming Meme has a giveaway check it out! $100 Dillards gift card :)

Paisley & Paint

I purchased this chair for one buckaroo! It's been sitting in my basement for quite awhile, I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I knew the chair needed to be snazzed and jazzed up. I slapped on a coat of primer and then I let my creativity take over. I think she looks cute.
