Just a Pillow and a Trunk?

It's has been such a hot and busy summer I haven't done much restyling as of late. I have been wanting to make an accent pillow to finsh off the cane chair. I can now check this small project off of my list :)

Here is the before

A few months ago my neighbor gave me this trunk/suitcase, I'm not sure what I will do with it just yet; I am open to suggestions anyone?

Have a very lovely Sunday!

Many Mini Projects

I'm sure most of you will agree summer is flying by very quickly. I can't believe it's the last week of July and I feel like we really haven't had that much fun yet, everyone is so busy it's so hard to plan anything. I have completed my half bath, last week Sherwin Williams had a 40% off sale so anyone who knows me.......well I bought more paint. Most women get excited when Macy's or Nordstroms has a sale not this girl I'm all about my guy Sherwin. I painted the walls breezy and I painted the countertop with Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint I used the color graphite. I'm very pleased with the end result!                            before

Have you ever had a moment when you get an idea and then you say "now why didn't I think of that sooner" so the other day I was at Joann's just browsing the aisles, I was looking at the pillow forms I still can't figure out why pillow forms are so expensive can you? The prices are anywhere from $12.99 and up things add up very quickly if you want to make a few pillows, so I thought why not go to a discount store and buy a pillow there and that is what I did.

I will now take this lovely pillow form and make a pillow using this fabric.
Until the next time enjoy this beautiful summer day!

It's Been A Good Week

I've been featured three times this week! Thanks to Cassie at Primitive & Proper, Bonnie at House of Grace
and Kristin at Favorite Paint Colors . You ladies have made my day! I have big plans for this weekend which include baking, painting, sewing and relaxing. I haven't done much this week I wasn't able to attend any parties. I guess this was my week to slack a bit, hopefully I will have a lot to show all of you within a few days.

I am planning my first giveaway and it involves this fabric.

Do you recognize it? It's fabric leftover from my chair until the next time.......

Onto The Next Project

Some of you probably already know all about about this "Lovely Lady" whose busy raising Three Boys and not Three Girls like Carol Brady. Anyhow Sarah first intrigued me with this amazing transformation I read the entire post  and I even printed the instructions but the valuable information is in a drawer :( Sorry Sarah. It was just a few months later I was clicking through party links and something caught my eye  it was Sarah once again with an another amazing restyle! Sarah has mentioned Rub'n Buff in her posts and how she uses it to highlight furniture details, so I'm going to give it a try. Look at what came in the mail today.
I can hardly wait to get started and here is my next project

I'm already visualizing the highlights and texture that Rub'n Buff will bring to this table.
Thanks Sarah! Stop by her blog if you haven't already done so, she has done some amazing restyles.

Until the next time...

Just Call Me McGyver

Double stick tape, hot glue gun and stitch witchery is all I needed to complete this chair. I'm using the word re-upholstery very loosely. I'm pleased with the results, in the fall I'm taking a six week course in reupholstery until then I'll keep winging it. I'm assuming everyone knows who McGyver is, if not it was a television show back in the 80's, this guy used whatever he could to solve a crime or to get out of a jam. I also used whatever I could to recover this chair!

Here is the before
the process

the after

Annie Sloan's chalk paint and a little distressing

I moved the chair to foyer but I think it looks better in the corner

Stuffing a chair with fiber-fil is a lot harder than I thought it's nothing like stuffing a bra :)
Here she is in the living room but it's not a good spot she is destined to be in the corner
just so you know I happened to have these pillows, they came with a comforter set and finally I have a need for them, I like pillows but these two beauties knock them off the bed every chance they get; cute aren't they?
Back in the corner I think she looks good there
Revision I swapped the chairs I think the room looks better this way :)

until the next time...................

So It Begins..........Again

I posted a few weeks ago that I was given a chair, well it's time to put the pedal to the metal. I picked up the fabric today and I painted the frame and removed 9,152 staples :( not really but it felt like it. This should be fun!
Have a great weekend........until next time.

Saturday Garage Sale

Two weeks ago on an early Saturday morning I was driving home and there it was a garage sale! I slowly drove by checking out the goods and of course something caught my eye, I casually walked up the driveway admiring my next piece and hoping it wasn't overpriced. I asked "what's the price on the mirror and dresser?" the sweet little lady said "$20." SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now let's get to the before and the much better after.

Isn't she lovely!!! I'm keeping it. Do ya blame me?
Chalk paint goes a very long way, I've completed three projects with two coats of paint each and I have a little less than a half of can remaining.
Have a great day
