A Good Day For Pork and Pie!

Hello Readers,
The weatherman got it wrong for Saturday it was supposed to be cold and rainy, the day started off that way and then the sun came out. I took a nice long seven mile walk and enjoyed the crisp air, Fall foliage and sun. I then decided that I should fire up the charcoal one more time.

1 whole pork butt - bone in

simple seasonings - salt, cumin, oregano, garlic and pepper

rinse and pat dry pork and make small slits and add garlic

combine seasonings

rub on all sides of pork

place pork in the crock pot and pour 1/2 cup of Pepsi over the pork - yes that's correct Pepsi!

cover with lid turn on low - I'll see this bad boy in 6 hours!

it's now 6 hours later

looking good and smelling great but I'm not done yet

the grill is ready for pork!

coals are ready to do their thing

Sadie my assistant will be keeping an eye on things

cover with lid for about an hour and a half

remove lid and look at what you have

the sugar in the Pepsi helps to give the pork great crust and color

I patiently let it cool for 20 minutes or so

 slice YUM!!!
Now if that doesn't grab ya I understand not everyone likes pork or meat..............how about this?
Apple Slab Pie! I will post more about this deliciousness later this week.
Have a great week! Thanks for coming by Decor & Harmony.

  3. Dinner looks so good! We don't eat pork, but I bet I could try your recipe with beef. Can't wait to hear more about your pie.

  4. Don't you love when the weather man gets it wrong and you get a free beautiful day? I'll have to tuck this idea away for the pork lovers in the house.

  5. Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you. I just found your lovely blog. I often use the crock pit method with my pork shoulder. I sometimes ass root beer. I think putting it on the grill is fabulous! Thanks for the great hint. I am your newest follower.
