So It Begins..........

I bought fabric for my chair! I've decided to play it safe but I love it.

Do you have any idea how long it took to pull out the nail head trim? OMG - FOREVER!!!! Removing the fabric is quite a chore it is very time consuming.

I brought the chair from the living room into the family room, I will keep it there until my chair is reupholstered.

Abby was kind enough to stick around for a few photos she is usually camera shy. Do you recognize the scene on the television? If you are a Sex in the City fan you will know the answer :)

I made a very delectable cherry cobbler yesterday it's really YUMMY! Click here for the recipe. If you decide to make it I suggest using less sugar I used  only a 3/4 cup of sugar.

A Smoothie and a Great Gift

Good morning and Happy Friday,
Today I'm starting off with very healthy intentions :) I have a made a Berry Banana Oatmeal Smoothie to start this Friday morning off right.

Very yummy give it a try.

My good friend Lisa gifted to me a cast iron pot!

Isn't she pretty? I love the red. So far I have cooked an awesome seafood dish with scampi, chicken and mussels.

I look forward to making Rachael Ray's Beef and Burgundy next. Many years ago Rachael was on Oprah and she made it on her show. The Beef and Burgundy tastes incredible really good flavor I suggest you give a try.
 Enjoy the weekend folks.

The Evolving Family Room

Hello Readers,
Thanks again for visiting me! This past weekend we were out couch/sofa shopping it's never easy. Too many to choose from but I know exactly what I want. Here is my criteria light in color, attached pillows, t-cushions, no skirt and very long. It took some time but I think I have it. Here is the couch we have now
and here is what I want for the room

the couch will actually be a four cushion couch. I want more length the fabric is an ivory gray color with flecks of blue

Of course it is very similar but different right? My upholstery class is fast approaching and I need to select fabric for the leather chair here is what I like so far

It's kinda boring but safe, I did get some inspiration from House Beautiful (I'm afraid of pattern on anything other than pillows)
I love that plum chair

The blue chairs are a great accent

I love this space you can read more about it here. I really like the light color of fabric.

I want to add a pop of color but also some richness to the room, so I will be out looking this weekend. The family room has come a long way but I'm always tweaking :)
Do you remember this?

to this

Thanks so much for stopping by
My sweet little Abby was down and out for a couple of days but she is feeling much better now.

Chili For Dinner

My husband and I enjoy having a nice bowl of chili on these cold and frigid winter days. Finding a great recipe can be tricky at times, too many beans, not enough beans, diced tomatoes, bland, too spicy I think you get the idea. A good friend of ours makes a fantastic pot of chili (he will remain nameless). Here is the problem, you ask him for the recipe and he looks at you like a deer caught in the headlights. I have been trying to get this recipe for two years and he won't budge. So here is my plan..........this person is a connoisseur of Crown Royal, so I'm going to get him a little liquored up and hopefully he will sing like a bird. I just crack myself up LOL!!!!!

In the meantime I found a good recipe on All Recipes

I followed the recipe with the exception of adding another can of beans, cumin and cayenne pepper. I would make this again for sure.

Tomorrow I will share with you a corn casserole recipe that I got from my friend Lisa, she shares :)

Cold Weather Project

Hello everyone,

I hope your New Year is off to good start :) here in Ohio the weather is cold, windy and snowy. Here is a peek from our front window.

So what's a girl to do when the elements aren't conducive to restyling furniture? Cooking and sewing!!!

In November I purchased fabric at Old Time Pottery, on Saturday I did a little sewing.

I purchased this fabric for $4.99 and I was able to make two pillows. Not too shabby!!

Tomorrow I will share with you a super easy and delicious chili recipe.
