Week 5 of Upholstery Class

Hi Readers,

The weeks have gone by quickly and our projects are almost complete! My chair needs the outside back fabric and a few other touches and then the seat cushion has to be made. The most exciting thing about last night class was watching Edie work on her chair it is really coming together. Edie is doing a technique called sewn on button tufting I have Googled this but I can't find any information :( This is a shortcut to tufting and it really looks terrific. Edie took the time to masterfully make her buttons, this is something I really want to try but I'm going to try it on a pillow.

Frank has all buttons neatly organized. I'm really not surprised by this :)

The button maker - take notice of the little circles they will soon become buttons.

All done aren't they cute?

First one sewn on yeah!

Check it out don't you just love it.

Edie's chair is going to look fabulous don't you agree?
Laura is testing out her new cushion she is all smiles.
I was so busy drooling over Edie's chair that I forgot to take photos of my own chair, I wanted to take a photo of the sides and the wings but these will have to do until next week.

Have a great day and be sure to comeback tomorrow, I had my first gift exchange with another blogger and I want to show you all my treats.

Finding Inspiration

Blogs, Pinterest and magazines can be very inspiring when it comes to decorating and remodeling. I would love to do a complete overhaul in a few rooms of our home but let's be realistic there isn't a money tree in the backyard, but that's not going to stop me!
With a little "nudging" my hubby can be quite handy, it's not how he likes to spend his free time so I really appreciate it when he picks up a hammer every now and again for me. He did a wonderful job putting the crown moulding up in our family room and entry it looks so nice doesn't it?!

I have changed my foyer furniture but I want you to see the moulding, he's got skills. I would love for him to pick up where he left off and continue onto the living and dining room this year.

Can't you just picture crown moulding in this space? I can!!
Decorating for me never stops and Shelly from Confetti Style has plenty to do with it, Shelly has great ideas on making your home stylish and snazzy, here are a couple of my favorites. If you need inspiration stop by and see Shelly.

Once my chair is completed I will incorporate some of the things in this beautiful room I just love so many things about it.
I am also switching up the entry/foyer pictures coming soon.
I will also take a few ideas from these great spaces also.
I'm looking forward to the process!

Hello Readers,

I have really been trying to live in a place of gratitude and compassion, all of us are dealing with day to day stresses and disappointments but always take a moment to stop and breathe. Well are you breathing I can't hear you!!! Okay moving on........my chair is looking fabulous. Let me know what you think :)

Pretty pleats I'm doing the happy dance!!!

Week #2 All Hands On Deck

Hello Readers,
Thanks for stopping by :) I made progress on my chair last night but it was very frustrating for me. Good thing Frank is a very patient teacher I know that I was getting on his last nerve (sorry Frank). In the beginning everything was hunky dory I sewed miles and miles of welt cord I thought I would never finish, then we began working on the deck of the chair, that's when the wheels came off again and again, I eventually had success but it took much longer than expected. Frank always says "if upholstering was easy there would be a shop on every corner." I keep reminding myself of this every step of the way.

I know it doesn't look like much but that is four hours of frustrating work, Frank has assured me that the hardest part is behind me. Now lets move on........Edie is rocking it out with her chair, Edie is fierce and she means business.

Edie stripped her chair completely down to the frame (gutsy move) Tonight she put on new webbing and Frank taught her how to do eight way hand tied coiled springs.

Last but not least is Laura....she is buzzing right along with her wingback.
