Liebster ~ Favorite

Rachel from Thrifty Inspirations has given me an award thank you Rachel !

Liebster is a German word meaning Dearest or Beloved, it can also mean Favorite. The idea behind the Liebster Blog Award is that it is given to up and coming bloggers with fewer than 200 followers - in order to create new connections and bring attention to wonderful growing blogs.

When you win the award, there are a few rules to follow:

1.) Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
2.) Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you.
3.) Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.
4.) Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 blogs of 200 followers or less who     you feel deserves it.
5.) Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment on their blog.

The five blogs I am presenting the Liebster Blog Award to are:

Lisa - A Room With A View
Melissa - Shabby Loco
Mindy - Pretty In Paint
April - A Heart's Desire
Loretta - At Home With Loretta

Please take a little time to click on over and check out these very creative blogs. There you'll find restyled furniture, crafts, design and the joy they each have being inspiring bloggers.

Tutorial for Refinishing Wood

Hello Readers,
Some of you have asked how do I refinished the wood on my furniture, first of all I'm not a professional but I'm sharing with you the success I've had with this process. I hope that the information I'm providing will give you the same success. Here are just a few before and after pictures of some of my projects.

Before

after

before

after

now let's get started shall we
before
with my palm sander I removed the old stain using 100 grit sandpaper, after the finished was completely removed I wiped  the tables with a damp, clean, lint free cloth.
after the tables have been wiped down this is how they looked
if you're using an oil based polyurethane sealer use this

if you're using a water based sealer Polycrylic use this one

after the pre-stain conditioner was brushed on
apply stain of your choice
don't forget your gloves
let stain dry and apply again to get the color you want
using a clean, dry, lint free cloth wipe off any residue VERY IMPORTANT or you will have a debacle on your hands REALLY!!
I used Polycrylic after stirring (make sure you have no bubbles) I poured some into a smaller container and then applied to tables
brush on evenly thin coats of Polycrylic (just pretend you're polishing your nails it's the same method)
in between coats it's important to sand very lightly between each coat of sealer
I used 3M between coats sandpaper

Here are the tables after four coats of Polycrylic! This process was done over 2 days, I personally like to use Polycrylic verses the other methods I'm old school. To be fair I have also used Wipe-On Poly and waxes on my projects.
Lovely! This method has never disappointed just be patient :)
